Inspirational Portfolios
Over the past few weeks I’ve bookmarked portfolios that stand out to me, some of these sites have some really interesting pieces of work that you might take inspiration from.
Gfx8 – Some of my favourites here are the Cancer poster design, the digital art gallery, and Knightmare.
Saffron – Lots of interesting stuff from Saffron, particularly like the work for Lloyd’s, Bankinter, Rompetrol, Banco Deuno and Indra.
The Small Stakes – The designs here are very simple, I bet they look great printed.
Andre Augusto – This site has an interesting design in itself, and although some of the work looks a bit “web templatey” there are nuggets of inspiration here. I like the logo mark and typography for Caffè Digital.
Definitely Something – This website really stood out to me, obviously quite a successful business but some of their work isn’t up to much. Why feature it here? I quite like the pretty shapes in the header…
Newlyn – Newlyn created the new “friendlier” Sky logo as well as many other well-known logos. Their site is worth a look for some inspiration.

12 Essential Rules to Follow When Designing a Logo
“The logo is the face of any brand — the very first impression — so its design is extremely important. When executed correctly, a logo is a powerful asset to your client’s brand. However, creating an effective visual representation of a brand requires much more than just graphic design.”

East Anglian Graphic Designers
To put it bluntly, there are more designers out there than Chris Spooner and David Airey. I was getting pretty bored of the same designers being mentioned in blogs, over and over. Sure, they are great designers and I will always visit their websites, but there are more talented people out there who deserve a mention, and it’s pretty lazy to keep mentioning the same names in lists of great designers.
It can also be difficult to see what’s really out there when you’re influenced by the same designers.
So I’ve done a little research (when I say research, I mean I googled “graphic designers”) and formed a small list of people from my neck of the woods. Some of their websites aren’t quite up to scratch, some of them are bloody brilliant, but that doesn’t matter. This is about the quality of their work, so click through to the portfolios of these sites and take a look at what the east of England has to offer.
